Valencia is one of the most charming cities in Spain. Its iconic sight-seeings position the city as a place to spend a pleasant holiday or study abroad. However, there are many great places that are not mentioned in the tourist guides. We will tell you about five places that are worth visiting during your stay in the capital of the Turia area.
La fábrica de hielo – the ice factory
You can visit this place in front of the beach, in the neighbourhood Cabanyal. It is the café to go to for relaxing in your spare time. Located on the Calle Pavia 37, where you can enjoy the classic Valencian afternoon. Inaugurated in 2014 by the residents of the sector in order to recover the splendour of the neighbourhood, the Ice Factory has become a cultural hotspot for locals and visitors alike.
Most of its events are free and you can check out the schedule on their website and participate.
La casa de los gatos – Cat house
This place is located on Calle del Museo 9. It is a miniature house with a door, a balcony and a garden. Alfonso Yuste Navarro was the designer, who, in 2003, sculpted the facade. Nowadays it is known that these cats occupied the house, where it is located, since 1904.
La casa judía - The Jewish house
Located behind the Plaza de Toros on Calle Castellón 20 in Valencia. It was built by the architect Joan Guardiola in 1930. The name comes from the David Star which lies on the lintel of the entrance of the building. The building has seven floors and two penthouses. The passage of time has affected the top and the lower parts of the building. However, it continues to attract attention for its art deco style, typical of the twenties and thirties.
El Mercado de Tapineria – the tapestry market
Located in the historic center of the city, the Tapineria Market has more than 500 square meters divided into two squares. Its entrance is on Carrer de la Tapineria 15, in the old city center of Valencia and has five venues. Three of them are used to hold events, fairs and exhibitions and the others are dedicated to the cuisine.
An interesting place where they mix traditional elements with more avant-garde ones. In addition to that, they promote art and the cuisine.
